A look back at Mr. Cheng Siwei

At the age of 73, Mr. Cheng Siwei is no longer president of the Central Committee of the China National Democratic Construction Association. This marks his formal withdrawl from the political arena.
At 5 o’clock on March 3rd, Cheng Siwei agreed to be interviewed at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.He was punctual and candid. Sitting on the couch, he spoke slowly and calmly: “After the first session of the 11th National People’s Congress, I am no longer the vicechairman of the NPC standing committee. Having served at the National People’s Congress for ten years, I have fulfilled my ten-year tenure and reached the age of retirement”.
“You can write about me, but it must be objective”,said Cheng.
