China’s Real Estate Finance: Undergoing Directional Change

Influenced by a host of new policies on real property loans and foreign investment restrictions,real estate finance is in the midst of directional change characterized by fluctuations in domestic and overseas financing arrangements.
The long-rumoured “new policy on real property loan” eventually came into being on September 27th when the People’s Bank of China and the China Banking Regulatory Commission simultaneously released the Circular of Strengthening Commercial Property Loan Management (Bank [2007] No. 359) on their websites, requiring more strict conditions for individual residential property loans and property development loans.
